“Without forgetting it is quite impossible to live at all” (Nietzsche)
‘Bordering Bodies’ shows the physical sounds made from the various functions of the body such as digestion, excretion, burying, breathing and pain sounds. The sound wave patterns of these bodily actions were recorded and transformed into a hollow skeletal sculptures covered in a stone texture. Stone solidifies that essence of the body whilst also expressing an entanglement with the natural order and creations of the world especially within the female body.
