Since starting on the MA course I have been more open with my work and practice. Allowing myself to make more instinctive decisions instead of always planning every move. For the Open Cut project we were told to get out of our element and use materials that we wouldn't normally use. I discovered that DIY Expanding foam creates some really organic and fluid shapes that remind me of parts of the body such as intestines, brains and fatty layers. I've been quite influenced by the works of Holly Henders and Ally Rosenberg and I've really enjoyed exploring the body more. This has always been something that has interested me but I am excited to try something new and relate it more to this concept of home.
I'm really fascinated by these shapes, colours and reflections. They all feel really organic and bodily, something completely mundane but extremely exciting to me. It’s felt really good to get out of my usual practice and explore and play more for this current open cut brief on my MA. More Experimentations below;
